J. G. Thir has been referred to as the best maker in Vienna for 40 years circa 1738-1781. The label is correct for this period of his work. The wood varnish color is also correct for this period - transparent brown on golden ground. The two-piece back length is approx. 14in. An old velvet-lined case and two unmarked nickel-mounted bows as well as a Wm. Salchow resin are included. Condition appears good but for a few replacements. Compare to currently found internet price range of $2500-8500 without case or bows.
