A very fine violin by G. F. Pressenda, circa 1830, Turin Italy. In excellent condition without a crack.
Red to orange brown top varnish over a golden yellow ground. The two piece top of wide grained spruce. The two piece back of mediun to narrow curl with perfectly matching ribs. The purfling groove runs through both locator pins in the back. Verifiable ownership by one person dates back to its acquistion in London, UK - circa 1878-80. The ex-"Isidor Bacherig" is absolutely guaranteed to be the authentic work of Giovanni Francesco Pressenda! It was recently discovered, identified, and authenticated by Mr. John A.
