Fine 4/4 Italian Violin ascribed to Giovanni Battista Panizzi. Made in San Remo Italy circa 1940, purchased by previous owner from Hug in Zurich in the 1940s. Labelled and branded internally on the back, the bottom rib and the top block. The violin is in fine condition. Oil varnish of a rich red/brown color, the two piece back of small/medium flame descending from the center joint, the two piece top of fine grain. Length of back 14 1/16". A violin stated only as labelled Giovanni Battista Panizzi was sold at Christies Auction House several years ago for $13,000 plus $2,600 buyer's commission.
