Violin Bow - Very Fine J.J. MARTIN bow/Raffin certificate

A very fine nickel silver mounted violin bow made by Jean Joseph MARTIN. The bow is stamped F.N.Voirin. A very beautiful octagonal stick with a very elegant head, typical of the work of Martin, as the certificate by RAFFIN indicates. Martin was one of the great French bow makers in the 19th century, who worked for the great Vuillaume before he became an independent maker. The frog has the typical Vuillaume setting, as you can see on the pictures. This is a superb bow with excellent playing qualities. The stick is very well balanced, plays easily and produces a beautiful tone. The weight is 59.7 gram.
