Violin Bow Description: Violin Bow for sale - Exceptional and Rare Bow by Clause Joseph Fonclause (c.1835-1840) with paper
There are no pictures available for this violin bow
This is a violin bow by Clause Joseph Fonclause made between 1835-1840, stamped "FONCLAUSE". It comes with appraisal from Geo. Heinl & Company. The frog an open trenched (meaning the ebony frog is directly contacting the pernambuco) with silver mounting. The stick is strong (not stiff) with good flexibility. The tone is very full and clean. The pernambuco is flamed and exceptional. Most Fonclause bows are soft and supple like a typical Pajeot but this is a great exception. This bow has the smoothness and suppleness of a fine classic French bow but it also has the strength and flexibility most other bows don't have. All parts are original. This bow is in very good condition. There is no wear&tear on the handle and there are no repairs in the stick and the frog. The frog looks almost brand new! It is both a player's bow and a collector's item.If you are seriously interested, you should try it out!
