The back is made from two piece very old, unique, rare and exquisite NZ native mangeao. The grain is in a perfect 'V' shaped design with an unusual mottled overall effect and flame in the lower bouts.
The two piece belly is made from sitka spruce.
Natural golden brown hues with clear oil varnish and excellent transparency.
An excellent instrument with even balance,good tone quality, projection, harmonics and instant replay. Upper strings brighter.
This viola was displayed at �The XXIXth International Viola Congress� which was held in Wellington, New Zealand, between 8th and 12th April 2001.
