New Instrument. This instrument is equal to No. 26.
The back is made from very old one piece maple with a narrow flame.
The belly is made from two piece Swiss pine with a very fine narrow grain from the centre to include the �F� holes; from there it expands to a medium grain into the four wings. The scroll is made from matching maple.
A handcarved Fleur-de-Lys is featured on the lower underside of the pegbox.
The Upper nut and lower saddle have both been made from white bone and polished.
The chin rest is made from maple with a dark contrasting stain.
The varnish is a light golden brown with a reddish tinge on the flame apex. It has an excellent depth of transparency and pyramid effect.
It is fitted with Dr Thomastik Superflexible Strings.
This is superb viola. A very powerful instrument with a deep tone and bright �A� string. Evenly balanced, excellent projection , easy to play with exceptional instant, clear response.
