This Flatiron A-5 Artist Mandolin has a superb chop, and in the hands of an artist would bring enjoyment to everyone within ear shot.
Flatiron Mandolins were handmade in the U.S.A. by crafts-people who were dedicated to the art of lutherie, but Flatirons are no longer made.
Once owned by the Gibson co., Flatiron is now a closed shop. These exquisite instruments are almost completely off the market because
of their great sound and top level craftsmanship, and will only become more valuable and more difficult to find as time goes on.

The A-5 Artist is the top of the line "A" Model mandolin that flatiron made. The mandolin is made from top quality materials as follows:

Top: Select quarter-sawn Sitka spruce with X-bracing

Back/Sides/Neck: Select highly flamed maple

Fingerboard: Flat/ebony with larger fretwire

Nut: Pearl

Coloring: Sunburst

Binding: Ivory grained with black/ivory purfling

Inlay: "The Flatiron" and fancy fern in pearl and abalone

Tuning Machines: Deluxe M-505 with perloid buttons

Tailpiece: Diamond drag engraved "Flatiron" and traditional floral on brass cover with steel bassplate

Plating: Gold

This Mandolin is in near mint condition with a lustrous finish and only one small scuff near the right hole (not visible in pictures).
The strings and bridge are in excellent shape, and are in place and ready to be played. This mandolin has only had one owner who played it
gently and took great care of it, but no long has the time or space to enjoy this fine instrument. It is looking for a new home to be played and loved.

The Mandolin comes with the stand, and hard case seen in the pictures.

Shipping and handling will be paid for by the buyer which will be determined upon sale, and should be around $45 through UPS.
