Clavichord by Thomas Goff, 1957. C-d''' (4 octaves + one tone), double-strung, unfretted; 48 x 15 x 5 1/2 inches. Collector's item in perfect condition. Beautiful tone, easy action. Case in burl walnut with crossbanding & elaborate brass hinges; ebony & ivory keys, key levers flawlessly carved. Original strings (gold-wrapped in bass), tuning wrench, and stand. Includes shipping crate (buyer to pay for shipping) and correspondence from Goff. This is identical to the clavichords used by Violet G. Woodhouse, and by Thurston Dart in his famous recordings. (NB--clavichords are very soft and not suitable for continuo.)
