Description: Flute - Vintage Haynes Flute -Excellent!
Wonderful Haynes flute I just bought while in the US (ebay item number 7387108758 and you can see the picture there), and I am in love with it. What a gorgeous, warm, responsive instrument! I love the winged embochure. However, here in Finland I have begun playing in an ensemble, we're playing at A=444 (I can't believe I didn't realize this would be a likely scenario before I went flute shopping!) and this flute is at A=442, so I think I'm going to pass it along to another lucky flutie, and get a flute that's tuned up higher for my flute ventures here in Finland. Someone will love this flute and be thrilled with it! Text from the original owner: "This is may well be the most responsive flute you will ever play - offered at a sacrificial price! Haynes appraised this instrument at $8000 and it is offered here at the sacrificial starting bid of $4000, with no Reserve! This sterling silver hand-made French model, low-B, Boehm system flute, is equiped with the rare William S. Haynes cusped lip plate and is in excellent condition. (The head-joint is very rare on Haynes flutes - especially these days.) It gives the flute added projection, control, flexibility and focus. This vintage thin-wall (.014) 1966 Haynes (serial# 348xx) was recently overhauled at the Haynes factory and plays perfectly. It has a new Haynes leather case. Its tone is unusually strong and even throughout all registers. It is a solid, well-maintained and beautiful-sounding flute. This one-owner instrument (mid-1960s vintage, winged embouchure),was my back-up Haynes recently so it has been played infrequently since it was overhauled. It will allow you effortless performance from the lowest to the highest notes of its range. "
