This is a three month old Selmer Reference 54 alto. It only has about 2 hours playing time on it, and it is in pristine condition.

You probably know that the Reference 54 is inspired by the legendary Mark VI. And in the opinion of many it rivals that earlier horn. The new reference 54 alto is loosely based on the design of the early Mark VI.

It performs exceptionally well. It has the rich dark Selmer core sound you�d expect but has a bit more spread in the tone which is a departure from the Series II or Series III. In that regard it does have more of a Mark VI-like quality to the sound. The bottom end is effortless and the tone remains even up into the extended range. This horn also has plenty of projection and can stand up beside even the most powerful Mark VI.
