Double Bass (Contrabass) Location: campbell hall, NY, USA
Description: Double Bass (Contrabass) for sale - Bass Czech, early 20th century
There are no pictures available for this double bass (contrabass)
Herold Jaeger full size upright double bass. The instrument has a fully carved rounded back producing a warm tone,-- (much warmer than comparable flat-back variety of Herold Jaegers).
This bass was used regularly as orchestral instrument for the past twenty five years. It was professionally maintained and repaired by a well-known NYC luthier.
It was made Czechoslovakia around 1913 and is similar in many respects to the highly popular John Juzek model Czech basses made later but much more expensive in today's market. It has Gamba corners and generally consistent and even register throughout. The action is great and has been adjusted to provide remarkable ease of playing with no buzzing or wolf tones.
This is a fine instrument suitable for a regional symphonic orchestra player or as a travel instrument for a professional symphony.
(Will not ship. Buyer must pick up in Metropolitan New York area).
