This is a listing for a fine quality full-size cello made by John Foster Kirk. Excellent condition. I am only the second owner of this cello, and I took very good care of it. Now 21 years old, this instrument was crafted in Mesa, Arizona on December 1991. Gorgeous reddish-brown varnish. Unique antiquing details. Do not let the mellow exterior fool you, this cello has one of the most beautiful full sounds I have ever heard (I have played and been around cellos for 12 years now). That is why I chose this cello originally. The sound is amazing, and overall it is very smooth and mellow. No harsh tinny sounding notes. Very powerful. If you are afraid of playing loud, this cello might change your mind! I am pretty sure Mr.Kirk used a bit more wood inside the cello to increase its resonance. A very powerful sound is the result. Great for playing concertos, chamber music, and any solo repertoire. Also makes a good orchestral instrument (though I think solo music better suits this cello as the sound is superb!). The cello is outfitted with Larsen strings (soloist A & D, regular G & C). If you are interested in hearing the cello please contact me, I will put together a sample recording.
