Vintage Early 70's Ampeg V4 All Tube 100 watts Guitar/Bass Head
Very cool vintage Ampeg V4 amplifier circa early 70�s Magnavox Era. This amp was Ampeg's most popular high powered amp and was intended for guitar. It quickly became a favorite for bassists and led to the incarnation of the V4B model, (virtually identical except without reverb). This amp is rated at a conservative 100 watts but in reality cranks upward of 120 tube watts RMS! The amps power section contains 4 7027A. The pre-amp tubes consist of (1)12AU7, (2)12Ax7, (1)6K11 and (1)12DW7. A 6CG7 and a 12AX power the reverb. The V4 has two inputs, volume for each channel, and a set of treble , midrange, bass and reverb control knobs(reverb is not working, could just be a tube). It also has Ultra-Hi and Ultra-Low switches like the SVT. The back of the amp has an impedance switch for 2-,4-, or 8- ohms. It also has a preamp out, two speaker outs and a lock for the reverb tank. This V4 is completely original and is in very good condition. The metal knobs are original. The faceplate silk screened lettering is about 85% there, pretty good for these amps, this lettering was silk screened on and has faded a bit over the years but you can still see the lettering, not too bad though. This amp also has the original grill cloth. Most important is how this amp performs which is flawlessly. It has been gently cared for over the years and it shows. These amps were quite popular in their 70's heyday and were the primary amps used for both guitar and bass by Lynrd Skynrd, the Rolling Stones and even the Misfits, now used by Queens Of The Stone Age. These old Ampegs are in my opinion a steal and highly underrated.
Not sure of the year. Probably early to early mid 70's .maybe older. Who cares? It rocks!
This head is in excellent condition for the being 30+ years old. Tolex is in really good
condition.
