This guitar is a successor of Kohno model 50 which was the highest range of his models. It is a very beautiful sounding guitar, very balanced with excellent volume and projection. Tone character is bold and well defined with sparkling trebles and punching basses. Sustain and overtones are just enough.
Sakurai and Kohno guitars are built with precise details and flawless workmanship using high quality materials. Very nice Spruce top and straight-grain (quarter sawn) Jacaranda for the back and sides. It looks plain without attractive figure or spider-webbing but they are supposed to be more stable.
The neck is reinforced with twin-bars of ebony as Sakurai-Kohno standard. Finished with cashew-oil plus thin coat of shellac for the inner-layer of back and sides for greater protection against climates.
Playability is effortless.
