The combination of these woods deliver a truly very unique flamenco sound. The deep red to brown African coral wood is harder than cypress. On the one hand, this enables the luthier to make very thin back and sides, resulting in a light, vibrant guitar, producing a wonderful flamenco sound brighter than cypress. On the other hand, the hardness and weight of the coral wood gives the guitar a power one expects from a flamenca negra.
