Description: Acoustic Guitar for sale - SOLD! 1973 Manouk Papazian - Amazing woods
SOLD! 1973 Gorgeous Spruce / Brazilian Manouk Papazian Classsical guitar in near new condition. Scale length is 650mm.
Manouk Papazian, was a contemporary of Velazquez and Del Pilar in New York in the 50s through 80s, produced about 900 guitars in his one-man shop. His customers included jazz greats Tony Mattola and Bucky Pizzarelli.
Although this guitar is nearly 40 years old, it is in near new condition because Papazian kept a stash of guitars to sell in his retirement. This guitar is one of those instruments and is an excellent example of his work
Papzian worked exclusively with the best quality Brazilian Rosewood and European Spruce. He is reputed to have said the wood is God and insisted on only the finest materials available. His workmanship is absolutely first rate and his guitars are eye candy, especially the rosettes which bear Papazian's name.
This guitar is tonally beautiful. The sound is sweet, even across the strings, has good separation and nice tone color. The neck is a little flat (compared to many classical guitars) and the result is that playability is easy and fast. Volume of this guitar is more than adequate for concerts but it is not a boomer like a Smallman, Danman or Redmond owing to its traditional design. If you appreciate the beauty and lyricism of a traditional classical guitar, this instrument is an excellent choice.
NOTE: I am selling this guitar because I have 2 Papazians and can't justify keeping both of them
