2006 MALAPANIS GUITAR

DESCRIPTION

Thomas Malapanis guitar from retail boutiques goes for US $6,000-9,000. Why pay their overhead when one is available for less?

The guitar being sold is a 650 mm (standard size for classical guitarists), cedar-top instrument, Cocobolo rosewood back and sides, with a warm, dark, lush, and extremely lyrical sound. Action is 4 mm at 12th fret 6th string and 3.5 mm at the 1st string. Some room for adjustment if desired. Landsdorfer tuning machines.

This 2006 Malapanis is used and has some surface scratches on the French polish and worn area where it rests on the thigh and shoulder.
There is a one-inch chip on the lower bout binding (from an unfortunate accident). Professional �Titebound� liquid hide wood glue was applied to the binding and it appears tight. However, the blemish remains. There are no open cracks. Previous cracks on the soundboard have been repaired with �Titebound�. These are not visible unless you�re close up. I believe if you re-polish the top, the cracks would not be visible.

The guitar has been played and is not in mint condition. If you don�t mind the appearance and seek tonal quality this guitar may be yours. The sides are double lined to reinforce tonal characteristics. I was told the lining may be maple.

Luthier Douglas Ching, adjusted the neck angle, added 12 hole bridge, and added extra brace on the soundboard. Luthier Ching stated that the modifications have vastly improved the tonal characteristics.
