Musical Instrument Description: Acoustic Guitar for sale - 1997 Alvarez 5037 12 string guitar
1997 Alvarez 5037 Commemorative "Wildwood Professional Series" 12 string; Excellent+ condition. This is a GREAT guitar, unlike any 12 string I've ever played. Alavarez has always been a builder of great, diverse 12 strings but this stands out in the catalogue--closer to the sound of an old blues type guitar than anything they've ever done.
Stunning wood: solid Hokkaido spruce top (usually described incorrectly--though understandably--as cedar). Back and sides are solid wild, slab-cut mahogany--among the prettiest I've ever seen, could almost pass for Brazilian. Great Gotoh deluxe tuners; nice details, finish. In perfect playing condition--neck is straight as a line, intonation superb. (It is marked on the back headstock as "used"--Alvarez code for a floor model--but I have scrupulously examined it and if it was a second, I have no idea why--maybe some tiny blemish that would no longer stand out amid a few other nicks and minor (minor) scratches.)
Set up is probably lower than most people will like but that can easily be reset by simply putting on heavier strings and a slight adjustment to the truss. But you should try it as is--it's THE EASIEST PLAYER of any 12 string I've ever tried. No case. This is a great guitar for $500 you'll not likely ever see again. (Check out the reviews on Harmony Central.)
