Description for Acoustic Guitar - 1972 Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso (Conde Hermanos ) Flamenco Guitar:
1972 SOBRINOS DE DOMINGO ESTESO
( CONDE HERMANOS )
Primera "1A" Flamenco Guitar Handbuilt by Faustino Conde
The guitars specifications are as follows:
Master Grade German Spruce Soundboard
Royal Spanish Cypress back & Sides
Spanish Cedar Neck
African Ebony Fingerboard
Brazilian Rosewood Tuning Pegs
Weight - ( An INCREDIBLY Light ) - UNDER 2 lbs !
Scale Length - 667 mm.
Nut Width -53 mm.
Distance from the top of the 12th fret to the bottom of the bass "E" string - 3 mm. ; Treble "e" string- 2.5 mm.
This particular guitar was bought Brand New from Faustino Conde in the original shop of Domingo Esteso at Gravina 7, Madrid. It migrated south to Granada with its owner where it was played lovingly until late 1979 when he brought it back to Faustino to trade in for one of Faustinos Negras.
Faustino at that point redid the French Polish finish & repaired a loose back brace.; [ a bit sloppy; but solid.
( As the saying goes : " The Condes build their Flamenco guitars for HORSEPOWER! ; not ornamentation ... " )
I always find it difficult to 'describe' a guitars sound with 'words'...
The best I can say is that it's definitely what would be described as the "Old World" sound...
Think of Paco de Lucias late 60's & early 70's recordings.
Or check out the "Camaron; Live in Paris '87" DVD with Tomatito playing his 70's era Conde.
THAT, is exactly the sound you will attain with this guitar.
Short sustain, powerful & deep basses, & trebles that just 'beg' to be played HARDER !!!
This guitar does not 'flatten out' when played aggressively, but rather THRIVES on good strong right hand technique.
FANTASTIC for Bulerias ! OLE !!!
You can actually 'feel' the bass notes pulse through the back of the guitar & into the pit of your stomach when this guitar is played HARD !
This '72 Sobrinos de Domingo Esteso is a great piece of irreplacable Flamenco History !
You just cannot find guitars like this anymore...making this a rare opportunity for someone to own a very rare guitar !
*** PLEASE NOTE ! ***
